PMI was proud to sponsor Zeb’s Blue Moon service project while he was in the Dominican Republic. Blue Moon Project Blue Moon helped to build a community center complete with kindergarten, pre-school and library in the Dominican Republic. Blue Moon is now working on adding a computer lab as well as improving the local infrastructure and the construction of homes. Blue Moon has organized educational and recreational programs within the community center, which continue to impact and improve the daily lives of local Dominican families.
Zeb spent two weeks in the Dominican Republic on the Blue Moon Project. Half of their time was spent digging holes, bending re-bar and pouring a cement foundation in preparation for a new lab to be built for their little school; the other half spent in the classroom with the children helping them and teaching them English. Zeb fell in love with the Dominican people and was happy to be there helping them.His eyes were really opened to the circumstances that many people are living in this world and he gained a greater appreciation for what he has and a greater compassion for those with very little. From his journal: The project days are over and we had to say bye to some of the people in our group as well as the community. Saying goodbye to [group members] was hard enough, but seein' all my boys at the bottom of the hill made me cry. I really do love those kids like my brothers.I would do anything for them. |
